Mary Rutan Health is expanding its athletic training services to the Graham Local School District to ensure the health of area high school athletes. Beginning in December of 2022, students will have access to a certified athletic trainer employed by Mary Rutan Health. Mary Rutan Health will serve as the official sports medicine provider to the Graham Local School District through a five-year contract at no cost to the District.
Mary Rutan Health’s certified athletic trainer will provide game and practice coverage and be on-site to provide immediate attention when a student-athlete is injured. The trainer will provide an initial injury assessment and first aid, establish rehabilitation programs for injured athletes, apply protective taping, and counsel athletes in areas such as nutrition and conditioning.
In addition to free assessments and treatment by the athletic trainer, Mary Rutan Health’s sports medicine partnership with schools involves professionals from Mary Rutan Therapy & Sports Medicine and Mary Rutan Orthopedics. The athletic trainers work directly with Mary Rutan sports medicine providers beginning from the moment of an injury through coordination of care and a successful return to activities. Working with student-athletes, their families, and coaches, Mary Rutan’s team of professionals provides consistent and efficient treatment, triage, and prevention of sports injuries.
“We appreciate Mary Rutan Health for their commitment to putting this new partnership together,” said Chad Lensman, Superintendent of Graham School District. “Since we began communication regarding this opportunity, we’ve been impressed with the level of interest and involvement by all members of the Mary Rutan Health team. We are excited about the quality services to be provided by Mary Rutan Health to our student-athletes and their clear interest in the Graham community overall.”
“The professionals at Mary Rutan Health are excited about the opportunity to provide outstanding athletic training services for our area schools,” said Chad Ross, President and CEO of Mary Rutan Health. The expansion of athletic training services to Graham Local Schools is yet another example of our commitment to the wellness and safety of our area’s student-athletes and the communities we serve.”
Besides Graham, partner schools include Urbana, Bellefontaine, Benjamin Logan, Calvary Christian, Indian Lake, Riverside and Upper Scioto Valley. This is an annual financial investment by Mary Rutan Health of approximately $500,000 in services to area schools.
Mary Rutan Health has provided healthcare services to the residents of Champaign County for many years. To provide convenient, easy access to care, a clinic was opened by Mary Rutan Health in Urbana in the summer of 2015. Within one year, the Urbana Clinic outgrew its location, and they have since added two additional Urbana locations. Services offered in Champaign County include primary care, pediatrics, orthopedics, physical therapy, sports medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, general surgery, ENT, neurology, and behavioral health.
