We would like to introduce our newest Falcon Family member, LUCY LENSMAN! Graham Local Schools has welcomed a new volunteer staff member this school year, Lucy! Lucy is Mr. Lensman's Therapy Dog. Lucy spent eight weeks last year going through specific training in order to be certified to serve as a therapy dog. Lucy is a 3-year-old Golden Retriever. Therapy dogs can bring a lot of positive benefits to a school environment! For one, they can help create a more relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The presence of a friendly dog can reduce stress and anxiety levels among students and staff. Therapy dogs are also great at promoting social and emotional well-being. Interacting with a dog can improve mood and provide comfort, and it can be especially helpful for students who may be facing challenges or stressors. The non-judgmental and unconditional love that dogs offer can create a supportive environment for building trust and communication. Lucy's favorite activity is visiting students and staff at all three buildings in the district! Look at those smiles!!
Graham Wrestling Press Release -Two of the nation's top high school wrestling teams will collide in a match at the renowned The Ohio State University on Thursday, December 21, 2023.
Mr. Slone's 7th-grade students use catapults to show how elastic potential energy is converted into mechanical kinetic energy! The elastic potential energy is stored in the wooden arm as you bend it and the rubber bands as you stretch it. When the students let go, this stored energy is released and converted into kinetic energy. This energy transfers to the projectile, which forces it into the air. Fun and learning go hand-in-hand at GMS!
5th grade Social Studies students researched the Ancient Mesoamerican Civilizations such as the Maya, Inca, and Aztecs. The students then participated in a stem challenge over what they had learned about these civilizations. They got to choose between building a 3D structure from one of the civilizations, making an ancient calendar, or creating one of three different types of Mayan masks. Outstanding work!!
